Steve Kraus

Steve's path in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu began at the Edinboro University BJJ Club alongside his lifelong friend, Dr. Korey Kilburn.

Shortly after, he continued his training at Underground BJJ under the guidance of Michael Rooney, from whom he received all his belt promotions. Over more than 13 years of dedicated training, Steve honed his skills until the opening of Mata Leao Jiu-Jitsu on Late October of 2023.

As one of Mata Leao's most seasoned members, Steve firmly believes that Jiu-Jitsu is key to maintaining lifelong strength, flexibility, and endurance. Beyond the physical benefits, he sees Jiu-Jitsu as a powerful tool for building mental resilience applicable to every area of life.

Today, Steve leads the morning classes at Mata Leao Jiu-Jitsu and remains committed to his own training, both at home and wherever his travels take him.
